Dark Companion - Marta Acosta Review from busymomsbookreviews.comJane is a young woman who gets a scholarship to a prestigious private high school with all expenses paid. Her parents died when she was young and she was shipped around to different foster homes. While she is at her new school she meets Lucky and starts to fall for him, she also starts to have feelings for his brother Jack. Jane starts to notice weird things about the school and the people that go there. This book was really really slow and I had to force myself to finish it. Jane is supposed to be extremely book smart and street smart; I had a hard time seeing it. She let people take advantage of her and it took her a long time to finally figure out what was going on. The writing style did remind me of a dark gothic novel but there were too many inconsistencies. It seemed like the author could not decide what type of book it should be. The author obviously worked hard on this book but I think it needed to be thought out more and needed some more editing.
