Magic Bites - Ilona Andrews Review from busymomsbookreviews.comI kept seeing this book over and over again on my groups list on goodreads and I kept thinking oh this is one of those books that everyone’s reading because somebody said it was good. So I read the synopsis and thought what the heck, how can anybody think this book is good it’s like a mass form of brainwashing (cough***Twilight***cough). I finally ended up getting the book when it was on sale; yes I gave into the hype. I am so glad I did I love this book and the rest of them in the series. Kate Daniels is a hard ass who has emotional issues and does some pretty stupid shit. I loved it, she didn’t do stupid stuff like scream and run upstairs as if she was a blonde chick in a horror movie, and instead she bugged the crap out of people till they told her what she wanted to know. She has a dry sense of humor and doesn't take herself too seriously. She is honorable and states her opinion even when she knows that it is not the right thing to do. The book is a melting pot for paranormals; pretty much any and every paranormal that you can think of is in this book. On top of that the author works the whole post-apocalyptic thing really well. The secondary characters are funny and add not only support but a nice conflict. The plot is well thought out and executed. I only found maybe three or four spelling errors in the whole book. I will be reading the rest of the books in the series and I recommend this book to pretty much anybody. My favorite part of the entire book is when Kate meets Curran for the first time and bends down and says "here kitty kitty". I laughed so hard at the image of her bending down and rubbing her fingers together and saying that to a huge lion.
