The Hungry Washing Machine - Janet McNulty The hungry washing machine is the story of a little boy imagining his washing machine eating everything. It's starts out as clothes and ends up eating the whole neighborhood. At the end the boy realizes the washing machine is really not a monster and he was just being silly. The artwork is nice and colorful, the pictures are humorous. The little boy in the story has a good imagination and I love how he protects his teddy bear, but cheers when the machine eats his books. I read this book to my 5 year old and my 18 month old; the 18 month old was too young to be interested but the 5 year old loved it. As I was reading the story she kept gasping and going oh no and laughing. When I asked her what she thought of the book she said she really liked it. This children’s book kept my daughter engaged and showed her that having a good imagination makes things interesting.
